So, I wrote a fanfic a day ago...!!!

...and yet, it was not for any of the ideas on my to-do list. It didn't even involve any of the characters I wanted. XD I'm not sure if I should feel accomplished or disappointed ^^;;

It's just not fair!

It's not that I don't want to write >< It's that I want to write, but I can't because... I'm not exactly sure, but I find myself unable to write for anything but YGO. Even plots in my head, it's weird, how they just not good enough! At all. Not in the least. I haven't been able to come up with an appropriate plot for an HP story in a good long time. Not even one shot ideas. Not even drabble ideas. I've run into the same dead end with ToS as well.

My brain is just...YGO-fied. I need to get out of it and write something else. ><

New Name

This is like...hella importante!

I've made the solid decision to change my name to:

Ziven.

(pronounced "Seven") I've been thinking about it for a long time, and mainly, I wanted something short and sweet. I don't know how this is going to fly over, or if I'm going to lose a lot of fans - I hope now, because I cherish them all.

I wanted to do something really cool with my name, and I'm afraid that I wasn't able to because of my distinct lack of creativity. But I really like the idea of being called "Seven" with an varying spelling for the word. Ironically enough, I saw the name in a baby book almost six years ago, and it's been in my head ever since. I think that means something...

Most of all, I'm going to have to change my name in a lot of places. XD

/Random Plunnies

Just thought that I would use this space for plunnies (plot bunnies), concepts or ideas without bothering to specify which ones I'll use for which fandoms.

• The idea of an organization, possibly of assassins or something absurd like that, with characters functioning in a group with different tasks.
• Jukebox idea (can't get it out of my head), with characters singing different songs (lyrics not included because of FFnet's stupid ban on songfic/anything resembling them) while partying at various locations. (??)
• Random Sex Therapist/type plot?

New, updated list of things to do.

Alrighty! When I first started this blog I had a list of goals and stuff.

...I only finished or started on a few of them. A couple of them I did actually complete, but I didn't like how they turned out and therefore they have essentially been destroyed. XD

So, I thought I would update with something that would make the old list obsolete and irrelevant so that I don't have to keep looking at it and feeling like a failure. I've gotten a lot accomplished between the YGO contest and my drabble table, so I can't say that I'm disappointed in myself. I just haven't gotten some specific things done. XD So, I'm going to make a list of pairings that I want to have stories for and try to plow through them. I think having so many stories summaries/deadlines at once may have killed my creativity.

Of course, I'll be doing this by fandom, like I did the other one.

Yu-gi-oh (henceforth abbreviated as YGO):

1. Possibly a Malik x Jounouchi x Marik story.
2. Some sort of Kaiba x Jounouchi story.
3. FINISH THE CONTEST! Lmao.
4. FINISH my Stay Cool drabble table.
   

Harry Potter (henceforth abbreviated as HP):

1. A Hermione/Draco drabble and/or fic for Val

Writing Random (Blockage)

I'm unsure why, but I find myself unable to write for the Mokuba x Yami table. Perhaps I just need a break or it's the things that are stressing me out lately (class, family, significant other, etc.) but I WANT to write; I just can't.

However, I wrote something random to LadyBlackwell of FF.net a day or so ago, and I was able to complete it successfully. Maybe it's just that I need to settle down and write something random to get the blockage out.

Also, I had a notebook with a drabble in it and I can't find it...I feel that they all have to go in a certain order, so I'm not fond of skipping or re-writing it. I'll have to check my LJ. Perhaps I saved it there?

Writing Gemshipping

If anyone's been keeping up with the YGO fanfiction contest - and if you haven't, I'll still provide details here - you would know that the pairing for this particular round was Gemshipping, also known as Ryou Bakura x Thief King Bakura (who is also known as Akefia, I just learned). I had quite a bit, I found, to say on the topic, so I'm going to copy and paste what my thoughts were about that particular story and the characters here:

Notes on my characterization of the Bakuras: When posting this pairing, Ryou VeRua (the admin of the contest) made it clear that she wanted there to be a distinct difference between Yami Bakura (who is essentially Zorc's corruption of Thief Bakura's original soul) and the Thief himself. So, not only did I try to make them different, but a large part of this story is going to be Ryou's perception of the two of them, which he hasn't quite worked out yet. As far as Yami Bakura goes, he's the same bastard from "Mirror", just with a minor appearance (there's going to be a chapter with more of his poor treatment of Ryou to put this scene in more perspective - it was just unrelated to the contest entry, so I couldn't quite work it in there without it being so much filter it would irritate you). As far as the Thief goes, his motives are a bit obscure here but I tried to make a point with his character. Although he's quite violent and he's pitted against the Pharaoh, that doesn't make him not a person, without respect for any other human beings (aside from the Pharaoh, whose father he believes to be the reason why his whole city was torched, and I think that resentment in that case is rather justified). If Yami Bakura is Zorc, I can only imagine how much more humanized the Thief would be (before being influenced heavily by Zorc), or at least as human as a thief could be. I tried in this story to get across the fact that he's a multi-dimensioned character, someone who knows when to steal and who to steal from but not to take too much; someone who can still appreciate a person who is being kind enough to dress a wound for him despite being held captive.

Notes on my characterization of Ryou: I tried to continue Ryou's strong personality here, to make eagerness to be agreeable a measure that he takes to preserve his life as opposed to being cowardly, and I tried to express his understanding of the human psyche through his own suffering, as well as his capability of deep thought on the concept of what is 'real' in this situation. I think that Ryou is a very intelligent, resourceful character, if only he was given the chance to show that he's capable of it. He wasn't given that opportunity on the show, and I think that because Ryou didn't do anything particularly heroic, people assume that he's weak - however, if you're up against someone who is stronger than you, that doesn't make you a weak person or character. Yami Bakura is tough as nails and three times as ruthless. In addition to that, since he's Zorc, he's literally evil. You can't take on someone like that alone - and the fact that Ryou's been getting by means that he's stronger, not weaker, than most, especially considering that his method of remaining alive hasn't involved sacrificing another person in his place.

Notes on the Millennium Ring: It's a bit mischievous here, with its own plan on how to do things. I like the idea of the items having a consciousness of their own, constantly struggling to bring about peace, always chasing after the happy ending to make up for the lives that were stolen to create them. This works better for me than any other explanation of the show, because it's more optimistic to think that even when it seems as though evil is succeeding, the success of evil for a short while is a part of the seven Items' intricate plan to have good prevail overall.
